er ... why ?!Part of me thinks 'Good lad! David Beckham is showing support for the lads etc etc'
Part of me thinks 'Another cynical PR exercise - using our lads for his own gain!'
I'm sure the boys and girls in Afghanistan would rather enjoy some downtime as opposed to be paraded in front of yet another celebrity seeking more fame and glory.
Amusing thought though - will Becks be taking his usual entourage with him (hair stylists, make-up artists etc etc) yet alone his protection ! I'm sure the lads themselves will wet themselves at the sight of 'civvy bodyguards' when compared to how they do it!
To summarise - if it isn't a cheap PR stunt Becks - then well done mate.
UPDATE 17:00
Well he's been and it was a success by all accounts - so hats off to you Becks. Nice one son!
See pics of his visit here
Ok, so, he visited the boys and girls doing the job.
ReplyDeleteOne question springs to mind......in fact, it is the only question.....
Why the fuck would the British armed forces want this wannabe shirt lifter trying to sniff there boxers whilst performing the most dangerous and yet most unappreciated job ever???
I don't think they did specifically ... it was a rush hush job by all accounts!
ReplyDeleteps Bit harsh there AB ?!

ReplyDeleteI know he was mainly visiting Bastion, but I see that Kandahar came under direct attack by Terry Taliban yesterday evening.
Wonder if he was still there then? (obviously he would have flown in and out of KAF).
Good to see that he wasn't wimping out at Bastion lkie so many celebs / MPs / journos by wearing body armour !
He gets my vote for this visit.
